Mentoring (hourly or retainer) and Studio Visit Info
VIRTUAL - ZOOM MENTORING
Option #1: Hourly: (single visits)
$80.00 (½ hour) or $145.00 (1 hour) payable through PayPal or by Venmo or check. I do not take credit cards.
- This option is good for technical questions. We can share screens. If you prefer, we can also talk by phone.
- First-time meetings are a minimum of an hour: ½ hour sessions can follow.
- I always recommend an initial consultation if you want me to really know you and your work. (see below)
Option #2: ZOOM MENTORING: (monthly retainer-minimum 6 months)
All retainer clients start with an Artist-to-Artist mentoring initial consultation which is $425. This is mandatory for me to look at your work, your writing and anything else that you want me to review. I generally develop a list of deep questions for you, which takes 1-2 weeks for me to compile. You then reply with the answers. I then work on my comments that we review together during a one- hour scheduled phone conversation. This implements how we move forward.
Mentoring thereafter is invoiced at a rate of $100 an hour with a 3-hour minimum per month. Average months generally run around $400. If I am doing painting demos for you that require prep time, working on your website, statement, grant intent or exhibition catalogue essays or researching, it generally runs longer.
I am accepting no more than 8 people at on retainer. It’s very individualized. I am currently full with a waitlist. Things change.
Non- Virtual Studio Visits Option #1- I visit you:
$150 an hour plus expenses (gas, flights, train tickets, Uber, taxi, parking). I often do studio visits when I am traveling out of state. If I am already in your territory for another purpose, you will only be invoiced for local travel expenses and travel time @$35 an hour plus our working time together.
Retainer clients are invoiced at $100 an hour for my off-site consult time- not at the one-time studio visit rate, plus $35 an hour travel time and expenses with a minimum of $300 a month teaching time.
Note: I will prepare letters of intent to Artist Grant Organizations for us to work together for an $80 fee. Several of my clients are funded to work with me due to our collaborative proposals.
Non-Virtual Studio Visits Option #2- You visit me:
Now that I am more accessible and in a larger studio in New Haven, CT, I welcome one on one sessions in my studio. I am offering half day and full day hands on technique working, learning and discussion sessions. These are helpful if you want to hone in on a specific technique or concept, if you are a retainer and/or virtual client and you want to do an “in-person” day. The charge for this is $145 an hour including any materials prep time. Standard set up time, prior to your arrival, is included. Retainer clients will be charged, as usual, at the retainer rate. Just ask! There are plenty of Air B&Bs and hotels near Yale University near my studio. Also I’m a quick Uber from Union Station (2 hours from Grand Central on MTA).
Group Crits:
Want to get a group together for a twice a month or monthly critique? I will set this up with you, held either in my studio or in a space that you provide within, where the group can meet regularly under my tutelage. Price depends on size of group and how often we meet. I’m flexible. Preferred within a 2 hour radius of New Haven, CT by car or train.
Please email me to book any option.
Note: During Covid I have been much more flexible, however retainer clients have met the minimum each month even if they cancel. I am willing to switch to hourly if need be, but you may be giving up your monthly retainer spot.
